Cambus O’May

Sun 09th Jan 2022

Type of event: Regional Race
Type of terrain: Forest, Woodland

Results

Full colour coded event.

Entries are now open for this re-scheduled event.  Pre-entries only via the following link by 10pm on Monday 3rd January. No entries accepted on the day.

SIAC contactless punching will be enabled for all controls but not the Start and
Finish.

Terrain:  Forested glacial features, with areas of intricate contour detail. It is quite
runnable in many areas, but there will also be rougher areas of heather, bracken or
bouldery ground. There are two out of bounds areas marked clearly with red
crosses.  These have been designated, in part, for the protection of capercaillie, but
there are also dangerous quarries within them. Courses have been designed to
avoid these areas. There are three small lochs and a number of marshy areas.
There is a network of good paths, utilised by the easier courses.

IMPORTANT – Protection of Rare Plants

There are five small areas in the forest, that may not be entered under any
circumstances for the protection of rare plants. These areas will be taped off with red
and white tape. Crossing the tapes is not permitted.

Pre-entry only via the following link.

Part of the Deeside Night Cup series. The Deeside Night Cup is going ahead as usual this winter, so dust off those head torches and get ready to enjoy Deeside, without the views!

Two courses of around 3km and 5km at TD5/Green standard as far as possible.  No concessions to the dark.

Bring a spare torch/battery and wrap up warm or waterproof as appropriate.
Check here and on the DNC website for updates to locations and snow reports etc. before travelling.

If you’re not yet TD5 (Green) standard then please find someone who is to run with the first couple of times so you can pick up tips on Night O navigation strategy.
