The DNC Series comprises 17 night events throughout the winter in and around Deeside, organised by MAROC and Grampian Orienteers. The best 9 results count towards lavish prizes that are awarded at a gathering after the last event in February.

Pre Event Info

Common Guide for DNC runners is here.

An Urban Sprint in the dark through the streets of Aboyne with some forest section thrown in. Meet in Station Square car park for registration. Start adjacent to registration. Map scale is 1:4000, which means a large map, a bit bigger than A3 size for Long Course, easier for those with ageing eyes! The map has recently been updated to reflect the new paths put in by the Aboyne Paths and Tracks Group.

Both routes cross the main road, the A93, at least twice, and also many of the more minor local roads. Please look out for traffic when crossing.

Please note: The Tarland Burn runs North-West to South-East down both maps. It is more of a small river than a burn, fairly deep and fast running, and is marked out of bounds on the map. Please don't be tempted to cross it, other than by the bridges.

Directions / Parking

Meet in Station Square car park. There should be ample parking here.

From East on the A93 continue through Aboyne until Davidson's the Chemist appears on your left side. Turn left down Station Brae immediately after Davidson's and Station Square is on your left at the bottom of the hill.

From the West on the A93 continue until the traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing, then turn first right just beyond the lights down Station Brae, and station Square is on your left at the bottom of the hill.
