437th in Jukola 2012!
For the first time MAROC entered a team for the biggest O club relay - Jukola in Finland. Full report awaited but the team ran into 437th place, and ended up 4th British team behind Bristol, South Yorkshire and Jesus OK.
Running order for the MAROC team was: Josh; Callum; Jon; Sarah; Andy; Andrew; Drew. Great stuff!
June 10th 2012 - Junior Update
Lots of great new on the junior front. Read on for Trevor’s report covering the Jubilee5 and the Scottish Championships, JIRCs, badge qualification updates and summer tour selections amongst other things. Congratulations to a lot of juniors!

Alastair joins MAROC Marathon Men 2012
Shortly before launching himself into the Jubilee 5 weekend Alastair Marshall put in a really top quality time of 3-09-59 at the Edinburgh Marathon. Most impressive.
Congratulations also to Craig Chapman and Chris Low who both excelled themselves in the London Marathon. Great efforts all!
Rumour has it that there will be MAROC interest in at least other big city marathon this year.
Forest Sprint Series 2012
The final race in the series resulted in a win for Josh Dudley. Sasha Chepelin (GRAMP) tied up 1st place in the series by finishing second. Josh and Calum Roberts tied for second overall.

Andrew at the Highlander MM
Maroc member, Andrew McMurtrie, and friend, Caroline Watt, finished a respectable 8th place (and 1st mixed team) in the B-class of the Highlander Mountain Marathon at the weekend, covering over 50km and over 3,000m of ascent.
Success for MAROC at JK 2012
There were plenty of great MAROC performances at JK 2012, a rarity for being on relative home ground. MAROC winning performances over the weekend were:
Ewan Musgrave (M10B)
Jake Chapman (M12A)
Sarah Dunn (W40 & W40 Sprint)
Joe Wright, Jake and Alistair Chapman (Class M Relay).
There were many other quality results.

Be ACE Training starts 4th April 2012
A reminder that the first week of the Be ACE (Become a Compass Expert) Wednesday evening training sessions starts this week (4th April). The first two weeks are in Dess Woods, with parking at Deeside Activity Park (grid ref NJ 567012). Registration will be open from 6:30pm and courses will close at 8:00pm. Please follow the signs/ tapes from the car park into the forest where we will meet / register / start and finish (~500m).
Adults note - these sessions are planned for your benefit too!
Fees adults £2, juniors £1

Welcome Jess (and Mike!)
SOA recently announced that Jess Halliday (ECKO) and Mike Rodgers (Moravian) have been appointed as Regional Development Officers in Grampian for the period of the next two years. Jess will soon be moving to Speyside and will work with MAROC in Aberdeenshire and GRAMP in Aberdeen City, and Mike will work with Moravian in Morayshire, with the possibility that some projects will engage both.
