The latest (2nd Feb) went through Bogendreip towards Kerloch. A healthy ten in number turned out.

Helen Palmer joins Maroc
Member of the current GB Elite Development Squad, Helen Palmer, has joined Maroc for the coming 2013 season. Long time top level competitor, Helen lives in Trondheim, Norway and works in post-doctorate research. She has recently switched her Norwegian club from Wing OK to Oslo’s Lillomarka club but will be looking to compete for Maroc in some competitions. Welcome Helen! DNC Update Dec 2012
The first four races of the “Deeside Night Cup” have now taken place and the series takes a break until January. After 4 races Jon Musgrave is leading the league overall, but with 8 races from 12 to count he must feel threatened by youngster Josh Dudley and there is still plenty of time for other competitors to show their form too. Ross McMurtrie is looking like a strong contender for the Mini Cup, but could be pushed all the way by several other competitors.
Saturday long runs, autumn 2012
There was blue in the sky for the first time in days for the latest Maroc hill run, which started in Tarland and headed straight out up the hill behind onto Pressendye. 12 runners and a dog turned out for the run and were rewarded with some great views of misty flooded landscapes in the Howe of Cromar and beyond. Festive Frolics
Juniors got into the festive spirit with their training session at Potarch which involved a mass start pairs race for elves and their reindeer. The usual map and compass challenges were interspersed with a sprinkling of carrots, red noses, Christmas carols and lots of chocolates. Read more for photos.
Talent Squad Winter Weekend at Tomintoul
A plentiful supply of snow, clear blue skies and a warm comfortable cottage with sauna and hot tub provided the setting for the latest training weekend away for MAROCs Talent Squad. Seven athletes and three coaches made the most of the opportunity and put in some quality training sessions and made the most of the superb hill conditions. Read more for photos.
MAROC awarded grant for Semi-Permanent Course project
We are pleased to say that the club has been successful in its application to the SOA Development Fund for help with the “Semi-Permanent Orienteering Course Implementation” project.
The club is planning to put out semi-permanent courses in five of our local areas for use by schools and casual users. We are very grateful to the SOA for the £750 grant. Please read on.
Deeside Night Cup 2012-13
The Deeside Night Cup 2012-13 series kicked off last night (28th November) with the first race courtesy of Keith Roberts at Tilquhillie, by Banchory. A nice cold, but dry night and challenging courses in a great small technical area, made for an excellent start to the series.

2012 AGM & Ceilidh
The Maroc Annual Club Celebration and AGM was held on Saturday 24th November. The focus was on celebrating the year’s achievements, and lots of badges and medals were presented. This was followed by lots of great food and a ceilidh. A great night.
