Duncan, Hazel and Rhona selected for 2012 GB Performance Squads
British Orienteering have just announced the composition of the new GB 2012 Performance Squads with three MAROC athletes being selected. Duncan Coombs and Hazel Wright are part of the new Elite Development Squad targeting WOC 2015 in Scotland, whilst Rhona McMillan makes the Talent Development Squad. Well done all three.
Ken Hall
Sadly Ken Hall died on Tuesday 11th October in Aboyne Hospital after being ill for some time.
Ken’s contribution to orienteering in Scotland and to Maroc in particular, over many years was immense. In particular six years as Maroc President, the time he was Coordinator of The Scottish Days on Deeside in 1993, and his long term contribution to mapping, stand out.
All our thoughts and sympathies go to Philip and Julie and their families.
There will be a private funeral for family members only.
Andy, Sarah and Jon win their classes at VHIs
Birsemore proved a happy hunting ground for all three of MAROC’s representatives in this years Veterans Home Internationals. Andy Tivendale (M65), Jon Musgrave (M45) and Sarah Dunn (W40) each won their classes helping Scotland to second place just three points behind England after the individual race day.

Level 2 Coaching Award for Denise
Congratulations to Denise Wright for successfully achieving her UK Coaching Certificate level 2 award at the Nethybridge club weekend.
Club Weekend to Nethybridge
The club training weekend was a great success - using Achlean on Saturday and Tullochgribban on Sunday for technical exercises followed by a visit to the Invoc event at Anagach. The weather was not as kind as it could have been, particularly on Sunday morning, but everyone enjoyed the sessions and much learning was done - which will, I am sure, show as increased confidence and improved results. MAROC 3rd in 2011 Peter Palmers Relay
MAROC’s juniors finished an excellent third in this years Peter Palmer relay held yesterday (start 04.45 am) organised by BAOC and held near Stafford. The team finished behind Lakeland and South Yorkshire but took the small clubs trophy. The long journey south was obviously well worthwhile. Great result!
