Clean Orienteering Shoes for 2014
You will all have heard about the new diseases spreading in our forests – from Ash die back to Ramorum and others that affect Pine trees. Naturally we are getting requests from landowners for us to help avoid introducing any infections into their areas. To this end please can you ensure that all shoes are cleaned of the previous event’s mud/pine needles etc before going to the next event. At present using a household disinfectant is sufficient (though if outbreaks of disease do start appearing locally we might need to use stronger stuff….)
If we can show we are taking steps to avoid problems it will stand us in good stead if any outbreaks happen and might well stop us being barred from some of our areas.
Please comply with this request and help continue the club’s good relations with local landowners.

Windswept and ‘interesting’ Maroc/Deeside run up Mt Shade and Clachnaben.
Mean and moody on top, hares in winter pelage, and we just beat the rain back to the cars.

Congratulations to Jenny Ricketts and Rhona McMillan who have both been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Youth Orienteering Championships, being held in Foz do Arelho, Portugal from 23rd – 28th October 2013. Both throughly deserved their selections after a string of great results this year.
Great results for MAROC at Moray 2013
Top class results for MAROC at Moray 2013 were in plentiful supply. A full list will appear in due course but meantime the highlights were podium positions for:
M10A 3rd: Ewan Musgrave
M12A 2nd: Alistair Chapman
M14A 3rd: Jake Chapman
W16A 2nd: Jennifer Ricketts
W18L 1st: Rhona McMillan
W18S 1st: Evelyn Mason
M40L 3rd: Dan Gooch
Hopefully I haven’t missed anyone - apologies if I have!
Great results for Rhona at O-Ringen 2013
Rhona achieved a top 20 place overall (18th) in the D18 Elite category. This is despite a rather poor start to the week when she was 51st on day 1 but consistent performances thereafter delivered an excellent overall result. Rhona’s best result was In Thursday’s middle distance race where she was 7th, just 2:30 behind the winner (who incidentally won silver at JWOC this year).
