Talent Squad winter training weekend, Jan 2015
As has become a tradition over the last few years Maroc Talent Squad held their winter training weekend away in suitably wintry conditions. This year they visited the Loch Tay area and took part in some tough physical and technical sessions.
River Dee Foray
The latest club run had an icy feel to it, taking in some of the wild wastelands of Dess including the middle reaches of the Dee and the Sloc of Dess waterfall. River levels were low enough to allow the novelty of a run along the chain of islands off the northern river bank. There was a healthy turnout again (in number if not in the bodily sense), and a goodly assortment of technical jackets keeping the minus degrees at bay.
Maroc’s Norway section - news from Helen Palmer
Elite athlete Helen Palmer lives and trains in Norway but runs for Maroc back in the UK when she gets the chance. Read on for an update on her highlights from 2014 and plans for the forthcoming year.
Burn o’ Vat burn-up
A good crowd turned out to kick start the holidays with a run at Burn o’ Vat on Sat morning. A rainy start and icy paths did nothing to damp spirits and the sun eventually came out as a reward. Next club run is on Sat 27th Dec. Look out for further details soon!

Talent Squad training at Allt Cailleach
The Talent Squad headed out in wintry conditions for a Sondagsbana map run round Allt Cailleach. There was a cover of snow on the ground but the sun was shining and those that survived as far as the southern summit at Craig of Loinmuie were rewarded with some stunning views.

WORLD TOP RANKED ORIENTEERS COMPETE AT BALMORAL
Many of the worlds top orienteers converged on Deeside last weekend for the third race in a four event “Race the Castles” series at the Balmoral Estate near Ballater. Taking place after races in Edinburgh and Stirling, and before the last race at Forvie Sands, the Balmoral races organised by MAROC were part of the build up to the 2015 World Orienteering Championships to be held near Inverness.
