Training opportunity October 13-17 2014
Join the world’s best orienteers as they train in Deeside forests.
The week before Balmoral (13th – 17th October) there will be training available in 8 Deeside forests. This is being organised as a training camp for the World Orienteering Championships in Inverness next year (combined with the Scottish 6-Days).

MAROC in Italy & Croatia 2014
The Musgrave / Dunn clan headed for the Croatia Open via the last 2 days of the World Champs in northern Italy and a week in the mountains of Slovenia. Read more for Sarah’s account of the trip.

Rhona runs at JWOC 2014
The Junior World Orienteering Championships are the pinnacle of junior orienteering and this years GB team included MAROCs Rhona McMillan. Originally a reserve Rhona was pleased to be asked to complete the team when a drop-out occurred. Competing in all four race discipline during the week long competition Rhona put in some strong performances and particularly so in the relay where running in the GB 2nd team she helped them to an impressive 10th place, one ahead of Team 1.
Summer European competition for MAROC
MAROC athletes have been busy over the summer holidays this year with members taking part in competitions across Europe. From Croatia to Switzerland, Romania to Sweden MAROC were there….
Informal event at Torphins, 28th June 2014
On Saturday 28th June, Maroc will be hosting an informal event using the new urban map of Torphins, as part of the “Torphins in Action” event. There will be 2 courses available: a short course of ~1.5km suitable for novices and a longer course of ~4km suitable for more experienced, including club members. Technical difficulty of the longer course will be equivalent to orange standard.
Start times between 2-3:30pm from the grounds of the Torphins Health Centre.
Maroc at Jukola 2014
Maroc sent two teams to Jukola 2014 with a 42 year age spread between oldest and youngest.
Team 1: M20; M20; W21; W18; M16; M55; M50 put in an overall time that would have placed 255th and top British…but there was also an unfortunate mp though.
Team 2: M40; M35; W45; M18; M16; M50; M45 closed out in about 503rd. This in a field of about 1600 teams.

Another Jamie Stevenson Trophy win For MAROC in 2014
MAROCs juniors once again won the Jamie Stevenson Trophy beating ECKO and ESOC into 2nd and 3rd place at Deuchney Wood, Perth last weekend.

2014 Scottish and British Champs successes
Maroc members have had lots of success at both the 2014 Scottish and British Championships over the past couple of weekends. Special congratulations to British Individual champions Jake Chapman (M14) and Jon Musgrave (M50) and to the M14 British relay champions Jake Chapman, Luke Graham and Joe Wright.
