The JK International Orienteering Festival kicked off on Good Friday with a sprint race round the University campus in Reading. A strong contingent from Maroc have travelled down for this 4-day Easter event and were rewarded with top class results from a number of the juniors in the sprint event today.

The JK International Orienteering Festival kicked off on Good Friday with a sprint race round the University campus in Reading. A strong contingent from Maroc have travelled down for this 4-day Easter event and were rewarded with top class results from a number of the juniors in the sprint event today. Jenny Ricketts and Alistair Chapman both came out top in W16 and M12 respectively, whilst Rhona McMillan finished just 1 second down on the winner in W18 Elite, to take 2nd place. Jake Chapman finished 3rd on M14, but was the top GB finisher with only a Norwegian and Finnish runner ahead of him. There were great runs also from John Getliff (8th M12), Danny Skinner (11th M12), Abi Mason (8th W14), Ewan McMillan (11th M16), Frances Wright (9th W18 Elite), Josh Dudley (10th M18 Elite) and Duncan Coombs (11th M21E). Saturday and Sunday are both forest races with the combined times giving an overall position for the JK championship, and on Monday 11 Maroc teams will compete in the relay competition. After Saturday's race Jenny Ricketts and Alistair Chapman are once again in a strong position having won their classes on the day. Rhona McMillan is also in a podium position having finished 3rd in W18 Elite and many of the others will also be fighting for top overall positions on Sunday.
