The Revenge of the 30km Yellow Course

Dan Gooch's account of the SLOW Surrey Hills Race:

I ran the SLOW Surrey Hills race in the North Downs on Sunday, and was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was!  A good long trail race with a bit of orienteering thrown in. The course stays the same from year to year so regulars know the best route and can do without a map. The newbies have to discover the route for themselves. It's amazing how hard that can be after more than two hours of head-to-head running. It was only yellow standard, so I was surprised a couple of times to find myself going the wrong way and losing places fast! Still, I came in seventh and won some beer, and I did bump into Graeme and Cathy. They say hello to everyone
