Opportunity for adults in Ballater and Braemar

Over the past year through the Community Orienteering and Protection of the Environment (COPE) project we have been able to give many youngsters in upper Deeside and Donside an opportunity to give orienteering a try. Now I would like to extend that opportunity to adults by offering some introductory sessions in Ballater and Braemar. We have some of the best orienteering terrain in the UK on our doorstep and I am able to help get you involved if you would like.

• Do you like to appreciate the natural environment whilst enjoying fresh air and exercise?
• Maybe you like to run but need some distraction from the effort involved?
• Do you love poring over maps (the paper variety)?
• Are you looking for an activity that all the family can enjoy at the same time?
• Do you like the idea of still being active in a sport long into your retirement?
• Have you always wondered how to use a compass?
• Are you scared to explore the hills and forests for fear of getting lost?
If your answer is yes to any of these questions then you would likely enjoy orienteering.
I am thinking of 4 x 90’ sessions which we could hold on a weekday morning. No specific equipment would be required and it’s up to you whether you want to run or walk. There would be no cost involved, just lots of enthusiasm requested and I would need a minimum of 4 people to be able to run the sessions. Please get in touch with me, E-mail if you are interested.
