20th Jun 12

Hi,
I'd like to add my congratulations to the MAROC junior team that retained the JST last Sunday.  In spite of our large numbers,  the way it is scored also gives smaller clubs a good chance,  and ECKO and FVO both ran us close.  Denise sent the link out to the results earlier in the week,  but there is now also a link there to a Picasa photo gallery with lots of pictures of Maroc juniors so you might like to take a look.  http://www.rstrain.ndtilda.co.uk/results_12/jst/

The Trophy will be circulated around the team and we would like you to endeavour to pass it on to another family after a week,  if you can.  With over 40 juniors in the team we will need to keep it moving to get around everybody before next year's competition! We will try to put a sign-up sheet in the box so you can tick it off to show that you've had it.

There are some photos from the SOC prizegiving on the MAROC website.  To find them go to Photos on the menu then select Maroc Picasa Photo Gallery and then navigate to the bottom.  There will be some of our own from the JST added soon as well.

Badges - The following juniors have earned Badges at the JST. Congratulations to:

Calum Bowie for earning his participation Badge for 10 events
Alistair Chapman for earning his Participation Badge for 100 events
Jack Griffin for earning a Yellow Badge,  Bronze award
Iona McBeath, Phoebe Schouton, Kirsty Campbell and Leo Thomson for earning a Yellow Badge at Silver Standard
Calum Bowie for earning a Yellow Badge at Gold Standard.

The new Badge listings are not on the website just yet and I have attached them so that you can all see what you have earned before next Sunday's event.  If you are uncertain which course to enter,  please ask Denise or myself.

Training Squads:
The following juniors have moved training squad

Amber Graham and Orla Thomson into the Yellow Squad
Iona McBeath, Phoebe Schouton, Kirsty Campbell and Leo Thomson into the Yellow-Orange Squad
Damon Ogg into the Orange Squad

The next training will be after the summer, at the club weekend away on 1st/2nd September,  staying at the Abernethy bunkhouse.  There will be training on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Look out for an email sometime over the summer from John Mason asking for a final commitment,  but if you think you'd like to go,  it's a good idea to let him know that you're interested.

Callum and Josh took part in the Jukola with the other MAROC members and the team earned a very creditable 437th place out of nearly 1700 teams.  Can you imagine starting a relay with 1700 others on a first leg of over 12.5 km, in the dark,  like Josh did? - why not ask them about their experience when you next see them.

Don't forget to register with EEE for this Sunday's Sluie event and BBQ (bring your own food to cook),  which is a Jon Duncan league event and,  of course, counts for Badges (but you can also enter on the day).  There will be a full range of colour courses.
