JK relay M/W40- podium with Joe, Jake and Matthew

JK relay M/W40- podium with Joe, Jake and Matthew

Approximately 40 members attended the 2014 Jan Kjellstrom International event in the south Wales valleys over the Easter weekend.
Maroc, as usual, had a series of outstanding performances with many top 10 placings but the club’s sole overall class winner was Ewan Musgrave on M10A, who also won the sprint. The junior relay team of Jake Chapman, Matthew Gooch and Joe Wright finished second in their class.

23rd Apr 14

The events were well organised and on interesting terrain, with days 2 &3 being held on open limestone hillsides - terrain that is very different to anything we have in Scotland, let alone Deeside!
Maroc, as usual, had a series of outstanding performances with many top 10 placings and most club members had at least one good personal performance.
With many close results the club’s sole combined 2-day class winner was Ewan Musgrave (M10A). Ewan also won M10 in the sprint event (as did Sarah Dunn in W45).

Overall top 10 placings:
Ewan Musgrave M10, Matthew Gooch M12, Jake Chapman M14, Joe Wright M14, Ross McMurtrie M16, Josh Dudley M20E, Jon Musgrave M50, Roger Coombs M55, Kirsty Campbell W14, Rhona McMillan W20E, Frances Wright W20E, Sarah Dunn W45, Trish Coombs W55.

The club also had a good show of strength in the relays with 2nd, 7th and 11th in the M/W40- category. Congratulations to Jake Chapman, Matthew Gooch and Joe Wright for a very close 2nd place. Other results were:
M/W40- 7th Alistair Chapman, Ewan Musgrave and Luke Graham
M/W40- 11th Eilidh Campbell, Amber Graham and Kirsty Campbell
Mixed Ad Hoc- 6th Sarah Dunn, Ewan McMillan and Megan Ricketts
Womens Open- 9th Jenny Ricketts, Frances Wright and Rhona McMillan
Vet men- 16th Trevor Rickette, Paul McMillan and Jon Musgrave

The results were very pleasing given the novel terrain to most of the club members and the junior results show that Maroc are still doing well with developing new talent at a young age.  Many thanks to all who helped over the past few years at club training  -we can take satisfaction in the results which are probably the best junior results for a small club in Britain.

The next major competition is the Scottish Championships on 24/25th May – based in Tayside.  All members are encouraged to enter the races and come to experience the atmosphere at a large event. Relay entries are being co-ordinated by Sarah Dunn with slots open for competitors of all ages and experience.
