Pre Event Info

This year’s event safety workshop will be on Halloween night, Oct 31st, at Banchory Guide Lodge, 6:30 for tea and cake before a 7pm start. 9pm finish if everyone stays focussed!

This training is required by the BOF and SOA Insurers before you do any event officialling... planning, organising,  controlling, helping, or if you want to help at an event sometime in the next year. (You don’t need to repeat the workshop if you’ve done it already).

There is space for up to 30, but it would be good to get an idea of numbers to know how many cakes to bake. All ages are welcome, we just need your focus for the 2 hours. Most of the course work is in table-teams.

It’s useful to bring a notebook and pencil. There are no powerpoint slides on a distant screen, I just use a few posters with big clear text to discuss key messages.

Safety and Risk

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
Participants in orienteering should be aware of the risk of tick bites - more information here.

SPORTident timing will be used

Please note that a lost hire SI-Card will be charged for at a rate of £30, unless the Club Commitee agrees that there are special circumstances.
