Local event suitable for all, especially newcomers to the sport.

4 courses available: White (easy, for beginners and young children), Orange (intermediate for older children or novice adults), Light Green (intermediate for those with some experience) and Blue (advanced)

We will also be hosting some Outdoor Woodland Learning School sessions at this event, to give young children an opportunity to participate in some fun hands-on outdoor activities. It will be possible for adults to leave their wee ones at an OWLS session whilst they have a go at orienteering for themselves.

Pre Event Info

This event will offer a great opportunity to come and try out the sport of orienteering. No prior experience is required and club coaches will be available to help get you started. No special equipment is necessary, just wear old clothing suitable for a walk / run in the woods and remember waterproofs if it looks like rain. You will be given a specially prepared orienteering map when you register for your course. You can take part on your own / in pairs / or as part of a family group.

You can just turn up on the day, or if you think you will be coming then please send an "Early Email Entry", which will help the organisers to print the right number of maps and set up the computer system. If you do this then a map will be reserved for you up until 11:30 on Sunday.

Email your name, BOF or SOA number (if applicable) and preferred course to  by 2.30 pm Saturday 21 April. Please put EEE and the date of the event in the subject line of the email.

If you would like to book a place at one of the OWLS sessions then please complete the Doodle Poll here, selecting a preferred time slot. There is no charge for the OWLS sessions for families participating in the orienteering.

Start times are not pre-allocated, you can just turn up at the start and go when there is a space

Fees: £2.50 Adults, £1.50 Juniors

Parking will be in the main public car park at Dinnet. Please note that a parking machine is in operation there.

Safety and Risk

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.

SPORTident timing will be used

Please note that a lost hire SI-Card will be charged for at a rate of £30, unless the Club Commitee agrees that there are special circumstances.
