140+ competed today - a great turnout. Thanks Chris Low for some excellent courses, Campbells for organising and Pete Lawrence for doing the Controller bit.
Controllers Comments:
There was an unfortunate mistake in the printed (separate) control descriptions for the Light Green course which gave an incorrect code and description for the 5th control. We apologise for the mistake and hope it did not spoil too many competitors' runs.
I have decided to void Leg 4-5 from the results on the understanding that those diligent competitors who use good practice and check the control code and description before punching will have been disadvantaged compared to those who just 'wing it'.
Apologies again to those affected; I'm particularly disappointed by this as the same thing happened when I was planner at the 2009 Scottish 6 Days.
I would urge all planners and controllers out there to ensure they check the printed control descriptions closely - it's very easy to use the wrong version of your Condes file for printing control descriptions as this is often done after the files have been sent off for printing. It also highlights the benefit of a good version control system. I try to stick to a date based system (e.g. 20110814Corsedardar) which should make it easy to spot the latest version, also delete or archive redundant files promptly.

Planners Comments:
It was great to see such good turnout on Sunday, slightly more than expected but we managed to make the maps stretch! The White course was definitely tough underfoot in places and the Yellow had a slightly challenging ride to follow which we tried to improve with the use of "smiley faces", but I think some competitors were a bit unsure what they meant. I'm sorry for the mistake on the printed control descriptions for control no.5 on the Light Green course - it was wrong on the printed descriptions but right on the map. I'm glad to say that the controller has agreed to void this leg to make this fair for everyone. Thanks for all the volunteers who helped me collect in controls as we had it all packed away by 3.30pm.
Chris Low
Organisers Comments:
Hope everyone had a great day. Thanks from the Organisers to the exclusive group of helpers who stayed calm under pressure on the day, especially the McMurtries, Collins, Sue Walker, Theresa Chapman and John Mason.
