Maroc junior boys 1st and 2nd at JK relays

Over forty competitors and their families from Mar Orienteering Club (Maroc) made the most of the  Bank Holiday weekend by competing in the JK International Orienteering Festival in the Lake District.

This is the UK's premier annual multi day competition attracting over 2300 competitors from around the world.

15th Apr 15

The event kicked off with an Urban Sprint on Friday round Lancaster University campus followed by a middle distance event on Saturday and Long Distance advent on Sunday.  The team relay held on the banks of Lake Windermere on Easter Monday rounded off the weekend.

The terrain with craggy fells and few line features was challenging but several great results were achieved by club members.

Banchory Academy pupil Alastair Chapman was the Gold Medal winner in the M14 Category, with his older brother Jake Chapman taking Bronze in the M16.

Other top ten overall results were Ewan Musgrave 5th M12, Matthew Gooch 7th M14, Amber Graham 8th W12, Eilidh Campbell 6th W14, Abi Mason 7th W16 & Jenny Ricketts 6th in W18 Elite.

The strength of the Junior boys shone through with Maroc coming first and second in a very exciting Junior Relay with John Getliff, Grant McMurtrie and Joel Gooch finishing just 24s in front of fellow club members Matthew Gooch, Ewan Musgrave and Luke Graham.

In the Senior section Sarah Dunn was the overall Gold medalist in W45L, Jon Musgrave took Bronze in M50L and Dan Gooch was 5th in M40L.
