Many thanks to everyone who helped at Pannanich today. It was brilliant to have so many willing and capable volunteers!  Great to orienteer vertically for a change. Those of you on the Brown course will have noticed that controls 145 and 130 didn’t work so we’ve ignored alleged mispunches on these controls.  Sorry you won’t have times for these controls and it’ll muck up routegadget (for those who ran Brown).

Pre Event Info

Pannanich has been a rarely used area recently but is mostly lovely runnable forest with the longer courses venturing out on to the upper moorland, which offers fantastic views across the Dee Valley to the Cairngorm Mountains and Lochnagar. Even the shorter courses get occasional views across the valley.

Many thanks to Glenmuick Estate and Mr Coutts for kindly granting us permission to use the field for parking for this event and to The forestry Commission and Glenmuick Estate for allowing us to use their land.

Directions / Parking

From Ballater cross the bridge over the Dee and turn left onto the South Deeside road.  Parking is in the field on your left.  The competition area is across the South Deeside road.  There will be a marshalled crossing point, but young children should be accompanied.
