Planner's Report
When
planning the course, there were a few obstacles that had
to be tackled. Firstly, we were denied the use of a
large open area to the West of the map. Included in
this are the fields that would normally be used for
parking. Not having access to these meant that parking
was restricted the track to the far East of the map
resulting in a long walk to the start.
In the
forest there was a good variety of terrain, from the
tricky hill to the North to the ‘Scandinavian’ (thanks
Mike) terrain to the South. It was good to hear the
positive comments about the courses and I am glad that
everyone seemed to have a good time.
Congratulations to Jack Gomersall for winning the yellow
in a time of 24 ½ mins, which is good going on a
physically tough yellow.
It was
also good to see Sasha Chepelin moving up confidently to
the orange, and finishing with a very good time of under
40 mins. It was good also to see so many family groups
turning up and enjoying themselves on the orange.
The run
of the day has to be by Finlay Langan on his first ever
run on a Green. Although his Dad beat him today, it
will not be long until the positions are reversed.
It was
very close on the blue with Ben Hartman edging out some
very tough opposition, including newly crowned Scottish
Champion Andy Tivendale, maintaining his recent run of
form. I’d also like to point out that I don’t seem to
remember Bill Melville running M21 at the Scottish
Champs!
Again
thanks to everyone for turning up and those who helped
out as well.
