EXPLORER
CHALLENGE SCHEME For Junior
Participation A flexible incentive scheme
designed to encourage young people, by using maps, to venture into the outdoor
world of Orienteering. The scheme is for all junior members who wish to record their
progress as they display the skills they have acquired in their chosen sport. 10 points are awarded for each completed course. The scheme is based on the targets they attain when competing at
Orienteering events ( in Orienteering the
targets are the number of controls successfully visited ) There are 5 certificates and 4 badges to be achieved
: Acorn Award = 10 points, this is for new juniors and there is no
badge for this Award but there is a Certificate. Tree Award = 25 points, Certificate and Badge. Copse Award = 50 points, Certificate and Badge. Wood Award = 75 points, Certificate and Badge. Forest
Award = 100 points, Certificate and Badge. When you have attained the Forest Award you can if you wish go for
a second Forest Award by achieving a further 100 controls. To participate in the scheme you will need a Logbook to record
your progress, these can be obtained from
Denise Wright, junior coach. The Logbook is self-explanatory but it is the
means of keeping a record of your points and having all your information verified
by an Adult Member of the Club. This is the Explorer Challenge Scheme so why not go for it and add another interest to your Orienteering. Page last updated on 10 November 2008 |
